In addition, registered institutions offer several therapies to people who want to take therapies. A person can take these therapies, whether at home or institutions.

Outpatient Behavioral Treatment

In this treatment, a person has to visit a drug counselor regularly. A wide variety of therapies are included in this behavioral treatment. Some of them are:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy: This therapy teaches self-control to the person using the detox process. In this method, a person should have to control or avoid situations where he uses drugs more frequently.
  • Multidimensional family therapy: in this program, a therapist tells a person how drugs affect them and their family members. Due to this, the drug-addicted person develops a sense of quitting the use of drugs.
  • Motivational speech: therapists use this method because sometimes a drug addict needs motivation or mental support in order to stop using heroin. This will helps doctors to do the treatment for heroin addiction easily, and the person also feels healthy after the treatment.

After the treatment gets completed, a person must have to visit the therapist so that he can continue his recovery.

Residential Treatment for Drug Abuse

This treatment is used for patients who are unable to visit the therapist's place. In this treatment, a team of professionals comes to the person's home and starts giving him the therapies. However, this treatment is quite costly but very effective for the patients.

  • The team of professionals is available 24 hours at home in order to keep their eye on the patient. They provide the safe and best therapies at home.
  • Short-term programs: in this program, the team of therapists only works on the detoxification of heroin. They try to give the result in the short –term, and if it does not work, then they go to a long-term program.
  • In long-term programs, the professionals kept working for up to 6 to 12 months and tried to complete their courses. In this course, the therapists try various therapies so that the person will get relief from the cravings for the drug.
